Beat The Cravings

Anybody, no matter how disciplined they might be in their diet, will from time to time become a victim to crave for some item of  food. It's sometimes more of a challenge for people to deal with when trying to maintain their weight, than it is for people trying to lose weight with these cravings. No matter whether they are wanting to lose weight, the carvings they are getting could be the one thing which will prevent them from maintaining their normal diet habits, which will make you overdo your calorie intake.

The majority of people today know that getting a certain amount of exercise along with a healthy balanced diet, with low-fat foods is key to maintaining their good health, but it's hard with our hectic schedules these days, that sometimes eating the way we should and getting the exercise necessary is easier said than done.

You need to to think about what you are going to do when you get these cravings throughout the day. What you need is a Strategy. One thing that you could try is plan to eat a few small meals throughout the day, around 5 - 6 is a good number, and try to eat these meals with intervals of 3 hours apart. But, make it a point not to miss any. It takes our human body an average of 2.5 hours to digest a meal, that way when you begin to feel your next craving, it won't be long for your next meal anyway.

One thing you should make a point of, is drinking plenty of water. most of the time our feelings of being hungry in between our meals are actually our bodies signalling it's thirst.Just have a bottle of water by the side of you throughout the whole day, and make sure you remember to take regular sips. By doing so, you will keep yourself hydrated, which will make you feel much better and also eliminate your cravings to occur.

If I was you, I would keep some kind of fresh fruit by your side when you're in your own home. The reason I say that is because, if you start craving, a piece of fruit is a much better choice than cake or chips. You can also try making a fat-free dip and cut up some pieces of vegetables, like celery and carrots to keep in the fridge. That will make another healthy and quick snack which you can easily grab to eat whilst your craving.

Let me give you some more advice I think might be useful to you if you are trying to lose weight, or even if you are just trying to look after your figure. If you are going to a party, or some kind of meeting which will have food their for picking on a empty stomach. This will just make you overeat when you're there. You should just have a small meal or eat a healthy snack before you leave for the event, it will prevent you from craving when you're at the event.

If you have certain foods or snacks that you really enjoy, you shouldn't stop eating them completely. If you do, you may just end up overindulging the next time you have the urge to eat them. instead you could try planning these snacks into your day, or you could make them snacks that you only have in a while, and when you do have them, you only allow yourself to eat moderate amounts of them. Just because certain foods are free from fat, it doesn't mean that they are free of calories. If you're choosing fat free alternative snacks, just be careful of the amount of calories they contain so you can eat the right size portions as are required to help you maintain your diet. You could quite easily assume that fat free foods are safe and just go overboard with them.

Just remember these guidelines I am sharing with you when you're getting your cravings next time, and hopefully, you will be able to cope better with them without diverting from your dieting plan.
